To deliver accurate calculations, event reminders, AI-powered greetings, and optional multi-device backup, we collect the following types of information:

a) Information You Provide Voluntarily

  • Account Information: When you choose to sign in (via Email/Password or Google Sign-In) to enable cloud backup, we collect your email address, display name, and unique user identifier via Google Firebase Authentication.
  • Profile & Event Data: Names, dates of birth, categories, color preferences, and reminder configurations for yourself or loved ones added to your saved birthdays or milestone tracking lists.
  • Photos & Custom Images: If you personalize a user profile or birthday card with an image, you grant access via the system Photo Picker. If you are signed in, these images are stored in your private, secure Google Firebase Storage bucket.
  • AI Wish Input: Text inputs you provide when generating greetings (such as recipient relationship, selected tone, and language preference).

b) Device Contacts (Optional Feature)

  • Contacts Birthday Import (READ_CONTACTS): If you choose to use the "Import from Contacts" feature, the app requests permission to access your device address book.
    • On-Device Processing Only: Your contacts are inspected locally on your device solely to identify names and birth dates.
    • We do not upload your entire address book, phone numbers, or email lists to our servers. Only the specific birthday entries you explicitly select and confirm are saved into your app database.

c) Automatically Collected Technical & Analytical Data

  • Device & Diagnostic Data: Device model, operating system version, app version, language, crash logs, and performance metrics via Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Advertising & Analytics Identifiers: Non-personally identifiable advertising IDs (such as Google GAID) used by Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics to serve relevant advertisements, measure ad interactions, and understand feature usage trends.

2. Device Permissions Used by the App

We only request permissions that are strictly necessary to deliver specific app features:

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): To deliver timely alerts for upcoming birthdays, half-birthdays, and custom age milestones.
  • Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM): To ensure reminder notifications trigger at the exact date and minute you schedule, even when the device is in low-power or idle modes.
  • Contacts (READ_CONTACTS - Optional): Requested only when you tap the "Import from Contacts" action.
  • Photos & Media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / Photo Picker): Used only when selecting custom profile or card background pictures.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following legitimate purposes:

  1. Core App Functionality: Calculating chronological ages, date intervals, upcoming milestone dates, half-birthdays, planetary ages, and life progress metrics.
  2. Event Reminders: Scheduling and triggering localized alarms and notifications for important dates.
  3. AI Greeting Generation: Processing your selected tone, language, and event type through secure Generative AI APIs to create personalized greeting cards and messages.
  4. Cloud Backup & Synchronization: Allowing registered users to sync, restore, and maintain saved birthdays, life goals, and preferences across multiple devices.
  5. Home Screen Widgets: Rendering live age tickers and event countdowns directly on your home screen.
  6. Advertising & Monetization: Serving banner, native, interstitial, and rewarded video ads (e.g., unlocking AI wish generations) through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's Advertising Policies.
  7. Quality & Stability: Detecting crashes, fixing bugs, and improving app performance.

4. Third-Party Services & Data Processors

We partner with reputable service providers to manage specialized app functionality. These third-party services process technical information in compliance with standard privacy and data protection frameworks:

  • Google Firebase (Google LLC):
    • Firebase Authentication: User identity verification.
    • Cloud Firestore: Encrypted database for backing up user profiles and saved birthdays.
    • Firebase Storage: Secure storage for profile and card images.
    • Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Anonymized app usage and crash diagnostic tracking.
  • Google AdMob (Google LLC): Serves adaptive banners, collapsible banners, interstitials, app-open ads, and rewarded video ads.
  • Google Generative AI (Gemini): Used in the AI Wish Studio to craft creative birthday messages based on non-identifiable user prompts.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or contact lists to any third parties or data brokers.

5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

  • Local Storage: All calculations, reminders, and saved dates function offline and are stored securely in a local Room database on your device.
  • Cloud Encryption: For users signed in with an account, data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS, and data at rest is encrypted using Google Cloud/Firebase security protocols.
  • Data Retention: Your data remains accessible as long as your account is active or until you choose to delete it.

6. User Rights, Data Control, and Account Deletion

You have complete ownership and control over your personal data:

  • Edit or Delete Local Data: You can edit or delete individual saved birthdays, calculation records, and life goals at any time directly within the app.
  • Clear App Storage: Clearing app data or uninstalling the application completely deletes all local databases and cached media from your device.
  • Permanent Account & Cloud Data Deletion:
    • In-App: Navigate to Profile > Settings > Delete Account to permanently delete your Firebase authentication credentials, synced Firestore data, and uploaded images.

7. Children’s Privacy

Age Calculator is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). If we learn that we have unintentionally collected personal information from a child without verified parental consent, we will promptly delete that data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
